Large concrete benches installed during initial construction were removed. No metal reinforced concrete traffic bollards as seen at Walmart/retail/schools nationwide to prevent accidental or malicious vehicles being able to breach doors or strike children/adults. Please update Knox box rapid response key access locations to include every entrance. https://www.knoxbox.com/Industries/Campus-School-Safety
Concrete benches seen in photo
9 metal reinforced concrete bollards protecting guests and employees from vehicles entering building and/or striking pedestrians. 5 cameras in this one photo. 3 white on side of building (1 pan tilt zoom, 2 dedicated to parking rows) other 2 in motion sensors on top of sliding doors. This is for retail…
Concrete Brick wall that once protected students and staff from vehicles.

Cement traffic barrier brick wall to protect children playing on equipment from rouge vehicles (initial build) replaced with thin hollow tube fence. Also, once pea gravel (initial build) replaced with wood shavings. Playground edging in need of repair.
Playground equipment from initial build of school. smooth pea gravel playground base replaced with chips of wood. Playground showing signs of wear and does not resonate with district. Please correct. You can see in photo how mulch compacts… Pea gravel is more forgiving (Less G’s) for taller playground attractions.

Sinking concrete fixed with faded yellow markings. This assumes small children will acknowledge and mind the elevation difference by markings. Large safety door numbers were placed on the inside of the building as seen by the large 9 inside window. After thought utilized a much smaller 9 number on outside of building. The smaller number is what emergency responders will be looking for during an emergency. Outside number is reflective, but school hours wouldn’t need reflective to see. Larger number would have been better. Sticker number is also easily removed. It is nice to see an AED this close to a playground located just inside door. Please istall Knox Box location. https://www.knoxbox.com/Industries/Campus-School-Safety
We can see the smaller door number again on this photo along with rusting support beams and aging graffiti on garbage can. We can also see the elevation difference marking that is meant to have small children mind the elevation difference of the sinking concrete. Please install knox box location https://www.knoxbox.com/Industries/Campus-School-Safety
ANSI Z97.1 is significantly under rated for a school exterior window. Especially a main entrance door. Dear, Village of Cary, Please craft a village code requiring all schools to have appropriately rated exterior windows and doors.

Unenclosed Electrical transformer in playground area with graffiti. Internal wiring or electrical arcing could make every inch of this metal enclosure live with electricity. This should be protected. “Power lines in a metal box”. This is a step down transformer.

Unenclosed Electrical transformer in playground area with graffiti. Internal wiring or electrical arcing could make every inch of this metal. If this is a designated break area for staff there should be a no smoking sign as this area is viewable by students from windows. Wall Graffiti also noticed after photo was taken on brick wall behind electrical transformer. “Power lines in a metal box”. This is a step down transformer.

Graffiti on playground equipment. It looks weathered and old, but it might have been made during summer break (When photo was taken) before routine maintenance could have addressed before school resumes.

Once, this was a prairie with a walk through trail. (Pictured) Wooden post in center right of photo is what remains of the sign that designated the prairie to be “forever ours to pass on to future generations”. There is still a Knaack tool box in the back right corner with gardening tools to this very day. Students would come out, learn about plants, then grab a gardening tool and go to work. We would like to see this left to the plants for their succession for future students to enjoy. This would actually save the district money. Approach the district property landscape company and request them to stop mowing this courtyard and please have it reflect on our bill.

Another example of how the investment of large door numbers were placed on the inside of doors vs. the outside. Large safety door numbers were placed on the inside of the building as seen by the large 3 inside window. After thought utilized a much smaller 3 number on outside of building. The smaller number is what emergency responders will be looking for during an emergency. Outside number is reflective, but school hours wouldn’t need reflective. Larger number would have been better.
